Range Rover introduces the SV Electrostatic Sound audio system, using electrostatic speaker technology from Warwick Acoustics
Design News were recently invited to JLR Headquarters in Gaydon, UK, to demonstrate the latest Range Rover SV model which has the Electrostatic Sound audio system.
Dan Carney, senior Editor at Design News spent time learning about the electrostatic speakers Warwick Acoustics has supplied into the vehicle, which have been developed with Range Rover and other suppliers during his visit.
His initial thoughts were;
"Hearing Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” demonstrated in the Range Rover reminded me of hearing the same song played for the first time on a Sony CDP-101 CD player in my dormitory, absent the background crackle of a record or hiss of a cassette tape"
Dan then goes onto say in his review;
"Sitting inside the demonstration vehicle, it was instantly evident that the electrostatic speakers recreate the sounds recorded with near-perfect fidelity, so the listener hears details that would normally go unheard, and each instrument is clearly and distinctly audible.... The sound is the closest thing to perfection that listeners will ever hear"
